Overcome Being Overwhelmed
Parent Resources
Parenting Talk
Too much to do?
Too little time to do it all?
Too many tugs on your time and your heart?
Have you been wondering: “How can I get it all done?”
There are so many wonderful parents who are overwhelmed with parenting challenges and all of life’s obligations… Loving and caring parents.
Sometimes parents get overwhelmed by all that is happening in life, especially during high stress times – which can happen when one has a busy family life and big work commitments.
Reducing stress by reducing what overwhelms you is an important way to care for yourself.
Overcoming Being Overwhelmed is possible. Parents can take steps to minimize the struggle… with thought, time, energy, and courage.
These steps will be detailed:
- Identifying the source of what is causing the overwhelm in your life.
- Envisioning what your life would be like if you reduced the overwhelm.
- Creating your Action Plan – Detailing your 1st step, 2nd step and beyond.
This will be a LIVE session, not prerecorded, and will be held on Zoom. You will receive the Zoom link after you register.
This talk will be presented by Jennifer Watanabe, a long-time parent coach and a retired instructor from Bellevue College in Washington state where she taught parenting classes for over 20 years. It will be presented in an encouraging, non-judgmental, non-critical manner.
One important note: being overwhelmed is not the same as feeling overwhelmed. Feeling overwhelmed can be a mental health concern, so contact a mental health professional if that is happening.
The registration fee is $25. To register:

Parent Coaching
Parent coaching is for parents who are having a hard time. It is personal and encouraging.
It is for parents who are wanting to parent well and just cannot quite seem to parent the way they want.
Parents who are having a hard time may need more understanding of what they are going through, more support to help them get through this time and more grace. They will need more tools to use. They will need less criticism, less guilt, less self-blaming.
Over Being Overwhelmed Parent Coaching is dedicated to helping parents overwhelmed by parenting challenges and life’s circumstances.
With one-to-one parent coaching, you will develop your own Parenting Care Plan that will help you to parent well when it is not easy.

This is what I do:
- Help parents discover why they are overwhelmed and what they can do about it. Overcoming Being Overwhelmed Parent Coaching is about finding ways to be less overwhelmed. That can mean making changes to family life, work, or parenting. What helps will be different for each family. Figuring that out is what I help parents do.
- Help parents learn what positive parenting is and how it can help the parent-child/parent-teen relationship.
- Help parents find ways to make better split-second parenting decisions…to respond and not react. I help them get to their “thinking brain” more quickly and more reliably.
- Help parents find more time for family fun, friendships and enjoying being in their family.
- Empathize with overwhelmed parents. I have been there.
- Encourage parents as I work with them. There is no judgment or shaming. I often ask: “Who tells you that you are a good parent? Who encourages you? Who helps you become the parent you want to be?”
